A SLAVE TO THE TREADMILL: EXERCISE "ADDICTION"
Of course, exercise is necessary for our physical health, and
many of us should probably exercise more regularly. People
suffering from exercise “addiction” are working out too often,
instead of too little. This is the compulsory need for physical
exercise, often for hours a day. This need to exercise controls
a person’s life and he or she will often schedule the entire
day around exercise activities, negatively affecting work
and social activities, and will often do so even with injuries,
creating further damage to the body. If for some reason the
exercise “addiction” sufferer is unable to exercise for a
period of time, or even a day, they will often experience
panic, anxiety or depression. |
